Are there plans to list our approved costumes under our avatar or are we doing something different this time round?

i think it might get a bit heavy on the space visually, if anyone is interested enough to look, all that info should maybe be available when looking at a personas member listing - linked via the avatar currently
- alternatively, if not hard to code, it could be done as a popup triggered by a mouse rollover on the avatar?

just ideas here - not sure on the tech level required here to make changes of that sort......

part of this suggestions was covered in the housekeeping thread.
if people put their costumes in their bio it encourages someone to go to a profile if they really want to know.

to me having them on the public display on the forums is almost an e-peen contest. just my 2 cents worth. Smile

Not sure what an 'e-peen' contest is, but I'm not a fan. It's to much of a 'look at me' option. This is just my opinion.

I'm more than happy to use the BIO section I was just curious is all. I do Like Mr Fox idea of a pop up, but I'm not fussed either way.

really? THATS why you never filled it out??

lol

your on the right track there niko about the e-peen bit.
Look on particular other forums and look at the people that have long long lists of "approved" costumes and match it with the calibre of person.
pure e-peen or look at me look at me syndrome.

yup - i do see the value in inspiring others to ask the questions about interest points in a suit you have - the list is a good way to see whom has something a newbee might like to talk about with you - but i dont think it needs to be too in your face
- i think the forums need to be clean as to allow the content best communication and visual focus.

the information SHOULD be there, but less intrusive - if a popup can work with a mouse roll over, or an actual pictorial list attached to the profile section itself, i believe that should suffice.

Rebel Legion has a reasonable way they do it - a list of the membership in approved kits of the official application pics - not unlike the 501st Legion lists...... but i think it would be better if sorted in order of costume TYPE rather than in order of persons - that would still show the Garrisons full selection of suit styles, without highlighting individuals too much

thoughts?

I believe that kind of link to profiles is due to the RL forums being all hosted together rather than independantly run like the 501st Garrison forums tend to be. Whether or not something can be done I'll leave up to Koodge who has better knowledge than I.

For my part in time we will start the costume knowledge base so we have mentors for various costumes that new people can approach for info. And may also add a full list somewhere of members and their approved suits or at least a link back to the 501st website member roster.
